In a recent interview with skincare expert Faeeza Sacoor, owner of Sandton Beauty Clinic, she emphasized the significance of understanding your skin type and any underlying skin conditions to effectively address your skincare needs.

“Your skin is your body’s largest organ and should be treated with care and attention. A proper skincare routine can help slow down the aging process, protect your skin from environmental aggressors, and ensure it stays hydrated and nourished,” Sacoor explained.

How Seasonal Changes Impact Your Skin

As the seasons shift, so does the behavior of your skin. Transitioning from summer to winter can result in increased sensitivity, dryness, and dehydration. It’s crucial to adapt your skincare routine accordingly to address these changes.

“During colder months, focus on hydration. Look for ingredients like collagen, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and vitamins C and K to maintain moisture levels and protect your skin barrier,” Sacoor advised.

Environmental factors such as pollutants, air-conditioning, wind, and sun exposure can also impact the health of your skin, leading to premature aging.

Toners help tighten pores and remove any leftover residue after cleansing. Avoid alcohol-based toners that can dry out your skin and opt for a plant-based or rosewater toner instead.

Moisturizer

Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type to ensure proper hydration without clogging your pores. For oily or acne-prone skin, go for a lightweight, serum-based lotion with collagen. Dry or mature skin can benefit from a rich, cream-based moisturizer for deeper nourishment.

Sunscreen
