Osasuna, under the guidance of new manager Alessio Lisci, is gearing up for another season in Spain’s top division after narrowly missing out on European football. One player who is expected to play a crucial role in defense is Valentin Rosier.
Rosier began his career in the French fourth division with Rodez before moving to Ligue 1 side Dijon, where he established himself as a regular on the right side of defense. His performances caught the eye of Sporting Lisbon, but he struggled to make an impact during his time in Portugal. He then joined Besiktas in Turkey, where he excelled and won a domestic treble in 2021.
However, Rosier’s time in Istanbul came to an abrupt end in December 2023 when he was excluded from the squad due to poor performance and incompatibility within the team. He then returned to France and joined OGC Nice on loan before moving to Spain to play for Leganes.
Despite being unable to prevent Leganes from relegation, Rosier impressed in LaLiga, making 32 appearances and leading the team in tackles and interceptions. Osasuna secured his services on a free transfer, fending off interest from Fulham and Eintracht Frankfurt. Rosier signed a three-year contract with the club, hoping to establish himself and find stability at El Sadar.
In a recent interview with Joy Sports, Rosier expressed his willingness to adapt to new clubs and focus on enjoying the game with his teammates. He featured in all of Osasuna’s preseason friendlies and started in their season opener against Real Madrid, putting in a solid performance against top attacking talents.
Despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid, Osasuna showed promise under their new manager. They will be looking to bounce back in their upcoming home game against Valencia, with Rosier expected to play a key role in defense.
As Osasuna aims to build a successful campaign in LaLiga, Rosier’s experience and defensive abilities will be vital for the team’s success. Fans can look forward to seeing the French defender in action as he strives to make a significant impact in Spain’s top division.
