Ex-Intel CEO Says Will Fast This Week For 100,000 Employees. Here's Why

Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger recently made an emotional plea to his colleagues, urging them to join him in prayer and fasting for the well-being of the company’s 100,000 employees. In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, Gelsinger expressed his deep concern for the future of Intel and its team, emphasizing their importance in the industry and the United States.

Gelsinger’s appeal comes after his sudden removal by the Intel board, citing a loss of confidence in his strategic vision. This decision was made during a turbulent period for Intel, marked by a significant decline in stock value compared to competitors like Nvidia and the overall market.

In his retirement statement, Gelsinger expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead Intel, calling it the honor of his lifetime. He acknowledged the challenges the company has faced, including workforce cuts and spending reductions, as well as recent financial losses.

Following Gelsinger’s departure, David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus have taken on the role of co-CEOs while Intel searches for a permanent leader. Both internal and external candidates, such as Matt Murphy from Marvell Technology and former board member Lip-Bu Tan, are being considered for the position.

In a public statement defending Intel’s semiconductor process, Gelsinger emphasized the company’s technological advancements beyond yield rates. He shared a message of hope and resilience, quoting Proverbs 3:3 to inspire his colleagues to remain steadfast in love and faithfulness.

As Intel navigates this challenging period, Gelsinger’s call for unity through prayer and fasting serves as a reminder of the importance of coming together in difficult times. The company’s future and the well-being of its employees remain at the forefront of his concerns, as Intel continues to adapt and evolve in a rapidly changing industry.
