Angel Fair Africa (AFA@12) is set to make its debut in the United States on September 19th, 2025, at Google’s 9th Avenue offices in New York City. This event, which brings together entrepreneurs and investors to facilitate deals, has been held in various African countries over the past eleven years, including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
The keynote speaker for AFA@12 will be the esteemed angel investor, Esther Dyson. With a track record of successful investments in companies such as Netbeans, Flickr, 23andMe, and many others, Dyson brings a wealth of experience to the event. She is also actively involved in nonprofit projects focused on community health and is currently working on a book titled “Term Limits: A design for living in the age of AI.”
This year’s event will feature ten African startup founders who will pitch their business ideas to a room full of curated investors, with the goal of securing funding and partnerships. The event is being hosted in collaboration with the Afrishela Fund, sponsored by the Graca Machel Trust, to promote diversity and inclusivity in deal syndication across African markets.
According to Eric Osiakwan, Co-Founder of Angel Fair Africa and Managing Partner of Chanzo Capital, “We are thrilled to bring the annual AFA event to New York City, as we have seen significant interest from US investors over the years. This event also provides an opportunity to engage with the African diaspora in the US.”
Jason Scott, founder of Five Two Five, BAG Collective, and XA Network Africa, added, “We are excited to welcome the 12th Angel Fair Africa to New York City this September. This partnership will bring together investors and founders from across the continent, fostering collaboration and investment in Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
