Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is confident that his team can stage a remarkable comeback in the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain at Villa Park. Despite trailing 3-1 from the first leg, Emery believes that his side has the quality to turn the tie around.

In the first leg at the Parc des Princes, Villa took an early lead but were eventually outplayed by PSG. Goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put the French side ahead before Nuno Mendes sealed the victory with a late strike.

The odds are stacked against Villa, as PSG has been in formidable form, winning 17 of their last 18 matches across all competitions. However, Emery is no stranger to dramatic turnarounds in European football, having experienced a similar situation during his time as PSG boss when Barcelona staged a memorable comeback against his side.

Emery is determined to guide Villa to a historic fightback and extend their Champions League campaign. He emphasized the importance of the home support at Villa Park and urged his team to play their best football to overcome the deficit.

The January signings of Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio, Donyell Malen, and Axel Disasi have bolstered Villa’s squad and provided added depth and quality. Their recent victory over Southampton showcased their strength in depth, with goals from substitutes Ollie Watkins, Malen, and John McGinn.

Villa have been unbeaten at home in both the Premier League and Champions League this season, making Villa Park a fortress for the team. Emery highlighted the special atmosphere at the stadium and the importance of harnessing the energy of the fans to achieve their Champions League goals.

The upcoming clash against PSG is set to be a thrilling encounter, with Villa aiming to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Emery’s tactical acumen and the team’s fighting spirit will be crucial as they look to overcome the odds and make history in their Champions League campaign.
