Egypt: President El-Sisi Meets Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt recently met with Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Government Spokesperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. The meeting, which took place in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, and Djibouti’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Ahmed Ali Berri, aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Djibouti’s Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, to President El-Sisi, highlighting Djibouti’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Egypt. President El-Sisi, in turn, emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two nations and reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to enhancing cooperation.

Discussions between the two leaders focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration in various fields to achieve common goals and meet the aspirations of their respective populations. The importance of enhancing cooperation in the Horn of Africa region, particularly in efforts to restore security and stability, was also highlighted. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s support for Somalia’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the situation in the Red Sea, with both parties emphasizing the need for joint efforts to ensure security in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and facilitate smooth navigation in the Red Sea.

The discussions between President El-Sisi and the Foreign Minister of Djibouti underscored the shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting regional stability. The meeting served as a platform for exchanging views on key regional issues and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation.
