Edinburgh coach Sean Everitt aims for third consecutive win against South African opposition

Edinburgh coach Sean Everitt is hoping to secure a third consecutive victory against South African opposition as his team prepares to face the Sharks in the upcoming United Rugby Championship (URC) match. After defeating both the Lions and Bulls in recent weeks, Edinburgh is looking to continue their winning streak at the Hive Stadium on Friday night.

In their previous matches, Edinburgh emerged victorious against the Lions with a 24-12 win in the Challenge Cup round of 16, followed by a tight 34-28 victory over the Bulls in the quarter-finals. The team’s performance has been commendable, with their recent win over the Bulls drawing praise from Bulls boss Jake White.

Sharks hold advantage in head-to-head matchups

Although Edinburgh managed to defeat the Sharks 21-5 in the URC in 2022, the Sharks have historically had the upper hand in their encounters, winning three out of the four matches played between the two teams. Most notably, the Sharks secured a 36-30 win over Edinburgh in a Challenge Cup quarter-final last year in Durban.

Head coach John Plumtree has assembled a strong Sharks team for the upcoming fixtures, including key players such as Eben Etzebeth, Aphelele Fassi, and Lukhanyo Am who are returning from injury. Despite their recent form, the Sharks suffered a disappointing exit from the Challenge Cup and have had mixed results in their URC matches.

Everitt targets third win in ‘Biltong Series’

Sean Everitt, the head coach of Edinburgh and a South African native, is determined to secure a win in what his team has dubbed the ‘Biltong Series’ against South African opponents. With two wins under their belt, Everitt emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and delivering a strong performance against the Sharks.

As the Sharks aim to bounce back from recent setbacks, the upcoming match promises to be a thrilling encounter between two competitive teams. With both sides eager to secure a victory, fans can expect an exciting clash on the field.
