The Ghana Industrial Trawlers Association (GITA) has recently elected Dominic Asamoah Danquah as its new President, marking a significant moment in the association’s history. Danquah, also known as Mr. Fish, is the CEO of A.S Domdanq Limited and Akrafi Fisheries Limited.

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of GITA, Danquah emerged victorious with 22 votes, surpassing his closest competitor who received 11 votes. The AGM, the first in over two decades, was graced by the presence of Emelia Arthur, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

In his address to the members of GITA, Danquah highlighted the importance of unity within the association to propel it to greater heights and contribute to the progress of the fishing industry. He emphasized the need to dispel misconceptions surrounding the trawling industry, which he believes are hindering its development.

As the newly elected President, Danquah pledged to address longstanding issues and restore credibility to the industry. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing executives and acknowledged the founding fathers of GITA for their contributions.

The newly elected GITA Executive Team Members include Dominic Asamoah Danquah as President, Kojo Ampratwum as Vice President, Danny Quaye as Secretary, Jerome Selorm Deameji as Financial Secretary, and Ohene Nana Ampem Kessie as Treasurer.

With a new leadership team in place, GITA is poised to tackle challenges, promote unity, and drive positive change within the fishing industry. The future looks promising under the guidance of President Danquah and his dedicated executive team.
