The inaugural Ampem EduCamp 2025, a two-week academic and mentorship program for 400 second-year Junior High School students in the Asuogyaman District, has concluded with a strong call for sustained investment in education.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman and Deputy Minister of Finance, emphasized that the initiative aimed to inspire the district’s brightest JHS students while providing them with essential skills in Mathematics, English, and Science to enhance their academic performance.

Mr. Nyarko announced that the camp would be followed by intensive in-service training for teachers working with final-year students, recognizing the importance of supporting both learners and educators to elevate the district’s educational standards.

He applauded the dedication and effort of teachers, school administrators, and health professionals who collaborated to organize the camp, as well as the invaluable contribution of corporate partners in bringing the program to fruition.

The MP acknowledged the vital role of sponsors such as Ecobank Ghana, GCB Bank Ghana, Fuel Trade Energy, E-Energy, Yehini, and Amandi Construction, whose financial support was instrumental in the success of Ampem EduCamp. He stressed that investing in education is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration from various stakeholders.

Furthermore, Mr. Nyarko disclosed that the camp’s data collection, including health screenings, revealed certain challenges like eye conditions among students, necessitating follow-up interventions in partnership with parents and health authorities.

The EduCamp facilitated the formation of new friendships and networks among students from different communities in the district, with many describing the experience as transformative.

Mr. Nyarko expressed confidence that the camp, coupled with the planned teacher training, would complement the efforts of the Ghana Education Service in enhancing teaching and learning outcomes throughout Asuogyaman.

Overall, the success of Ampem EduCamp underscored the significance of investing in education and nurturing the academic potential of young learners in the Asuogyaman District.
