Hollywood Actor Denzel Washington Sparks Controversy with Comments on Future Projects
Renowned Hollywood actor Denzel Washington has found himself in hot water after making some controversial statements during an interview on Australia’s “Today Show.”
While promoting his latest movie, “Gladiator II,” Washington discussed his upcoming projects and career plans. The Oscar-winning actor revealed that he will be taking on the title role in a Broadway production of Shakespeare’s “Othello” and expressed his desire to only work with the best in the industry.
Washington dropped a bombshell when he mentioned his involvement in a potential third movie in the “Black Panther” trilogy. He stated, “Following that, I’ll be playing Hannibal. Since then, I’ve been discussing a movie with Steve McQueen. Ryan Coogler is then writing a role for me in the upcoming Black Panther.” However, Marvel has not officially announced a third installment in the “Black Panther” series.
In a recent interview with Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Washington addressed the controversy and praised Coogler as “a genius.” He apologized for discussing the movie without official confirmation and commended Coogler for his humility and creativity.
Washington also opened up about his health journey, revealing that he has been sober for two years. He shared, “To improve my health, I’ve been on a two-year program. I realized that I needed to change after looking at myself at the Academy Awards. I collaborated with a trainer named Doug Romero, and reaching a point where I feel comfortable looking in the mirror has been my birthday present to myself.”
