A Large Crowd Gathers at the Colorado Capitol to Protest Federal Immigration Enforcement
On Tuesday evening, a large crowd gathered at the Colorado Capitol to rally against federal immigration enforcement before marching through downtown Denver. The protest started peacefully but escalated as it spilled into the streets in front of the Capitol and then moved down Lincoln Street and eventually Broadway.
As the protest continued, tensions rose, and at one point, protesters in the area of Broadway and Exposition Avenue were ordered to leave by the Denver Police Department. In a video captured at the scene, a Denver police officer can be heard warning the crowd to disperse, stating that “all reasonable and necessary force will be used to make your arrest and prosecute you.”
Amidst the growing tension, officers in tactical gear deployed tear gas and pushed the group down the street in an effort to disperse the crowd. The situation became increasingly chaotic as protesters clashed with law enforcement, leading to a volatile and tense atmosphere in downtown Denver.
The Colorado State Patrol also issued a warning on X about the large crowds and possible unlawful road closures downtown, adding to the sense of unrest and uncertainty surrounding the protest.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
