Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery to Export First Gasoline Cargo to Asia
Nigeria’s Dangote refinery, a $20 billion project, is set to achieve a significant milestone by exporting its first gasoline cargo outside of West Africa. The refinery, which has primarily focused on meeting domestic demand, will now be sending a 90,000-metric-ton shipment to Asia later this month. This move is seen as a signal that the refinery’s production has stabilized enough to not only cater to local needs but also scale globally.
While the official confirmation of the sale is yet to be made, a spokesperson for Dangote emphasized the company’s approach to the open market. They stated that Dangote sells its products to the highest bidder, regardless of the destination. This strategy positions Dangote as a key player in the international fuel trade, potentially reshaping fuel supply dynamics beyond the African continent.
This development signifies a significant step forward for Dangote refinery, solidifying its presence in the global market. As the refinery continues to expand its reach, it is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future of fuel trade on a larger scale.
