“The Daily Show” Host Michael Kosta Finds Humor in Trade Wars
On a recent episode of “The Daily Show,” host Michael Kosta couldn’t help but find humor in the ongoing trade wars initiated by President Donald Trump. Kosta jokingly pointed out that at least the United States is only fighting with Canada and Mexico, describing them as “sissy countries” that could be easily defeated. However, his tone quickly changed when he mentioned a bold statement made by the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. on social media.
The Chinese Embassy’s post read: “If war is what the U.S. wants – be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war – we’re ready to fight till the end.” Kosta’s reaction was immediate and humorous, as he exclaimed, “Oh… shit. China don’t play. They’re like, ‘If you got beef, we got broccoli, bitch. Let’s go.'”
Despite the comedic tone, Kosta also took a moment to address President Trump directly, warning him not to underestimate China’s capabilities. “Listen, Donald, Canada and Mexico are one thing, but please don’t piss off China,” he cautioned. Referencing Trump’s book “The Art of the Deal,” Kosta humorously reminded the president that China is well-versed in “The Art of War.”
As tensions continue to escalate on the global stage, Kosta’s lighthearted take on the situation provides a moment of comic relief amidst the seriousness of international trade disputes. While trade wars may be “pointless” in Kosta’s eyes, the potential implications of engaging in conflict with a powerhouse like China are not to be taken lightly.
