Trump’s Latest Rebranding Stunt: Department of War?
President Donald Trump has once again caused a stir with his latest proposed rebranding stunt, suggesting a return to the name “Department of War” for the current Department of Defense.
During an Oval Office press conference, Trump expressed his nostalgia for the former name, stating, “It used to be called the Department of War and it had a stronger sound. We want defense but we want offense too, if that’s OK.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stood by his side as Trump reminisced about America’s victories in World War I and World War II under the Department of War.
While the U.S. did have a Department of War until the late 1940s, the name was changed to the Department of Defense for a more politically correct image.
Trump’s desire to revert to the old name has left many scratching their heads, as he continues to push for a more aggressive stance in national security.
Whether the Department of Defense will see a name change back to the Department of War remains to be seen, but Trump’s latest proposal has certainly sparked a debate among critics and supporters alike.
