The Basketball Africa League (BAL) will be hosting a Combine in Rabat for the second consecutive year from Friday, Jan. 10 – Sunday, Jan. 12. The event will take place at the Ibn Yassine Omnisports Hall and will feature over 30 aspiring players from Africa, Europe, the U.S., and around the world participating in various scouting activities such as anthropometric and athletic testing, positional skill development, and 5-on-5 games in front of team executives, coaches, and scouts. Coaches who were part of the Africa Coaches Program at the NBA 2K25 Summer League last July in Las Vegas will also be involved in the coaching staff.
In addition to the Combine, the league will be hosting a BAL4HER women’s camp on Jan. 10 to empower and develop young female athletes. The camp will bring together 20 U-23 prospects from local communities around Rabat for an on-court development session. BAL4HER is the league’s initiative to promote gender equity in the African sports ecosystem and highlight women in the sports industry who serve as role models to young women across the continent. A coaching clinic for 100 local coaches will also be organized as part of the event.
The BAL’s fifth season will kick off on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco, and will culminate with the 2025 BAL Finals on Saturday, June 14 at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, South Africa. This season will feature the top 12 club teams from 12 African countries playing 48 games in Rabat, Dakar, Kigali, and Pretoria.
The 12 teams will be divided into three conferences of four teams each, with each conference playing a 12-game group phase. The Kalahari Conference group phase will be held in Rabat from April 5 – Sunday, April 13, followed by the Sahara Conference group phase at the Dakar Arena in Senegal from Saturday, April 26 – Sunday, May 4, and the Nile Conference group phase at BK Arena in Kigali from Saturday, May 17 – Sunday, May 25.
