The Copper Queens have officially kicked off their preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024, which is set to take place in Morocco in 2025. The team held their first full training session at Lanoria Club in Mohammédia, showcasing high energy, good vibes, and a focused approach to their training.

Under the guidance of Coach Nora Häuptle, the players engaged in tactical and physical routines aimed at fine-tuning their shape and cohesiveness ahead of their group opener against hosts Morocco on 5 July at the Olympic stadium in Rabat. The atmosphere during the training session was positive, with players responding well to the drills set up by the technical bench.

The addition of Orlando Pride duo Grace Chanda and Prisca Chilufya to the squad has brought depth and attacking flair. With their arrival, the team now has a full complement of foreign-based players, enhancing the overall strength of the squad.

Zambia finds themselves in Group A alongside Morocco, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Following their match against Morocco, the Copper Queens will face Senegal on 9 July and DR Congo on 12 July, with both matches scheduled to take place at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammédia.

As the team continues their preparations for the tournament, fans are eagerly anticipating their performance and hoping for a successful campaign in the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Stay tuned for more updates on the Copper Queens’ journey in the competition.
