Tony Hinchcliffe, the controversial comedian who faced backlash for his disparaging comments about Puerto Rico during a rally for then-candidate Donald Trump, has secured a deal with Netflix. The streaming giant announced on Monday that Hinchcliffe will be hosting three live comedy show specials, with the first set to premiere on April 7, in addition to his own stand-up special.

In a statement to the press, Hinchcliffe expressed his excitement about the opportunity to showcase his unique brand of comedy to a global audience. The comedian, known for his popular YouTube channel Kill Tony with over 2 million subscribers, came under fire last year for his remarks at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.

During his set, Hinchcliffe made jokes targeting Puerto Rico, Latinos, and migrants, sparking outrage and condemnation from various public figures. Trump’s campaign quickly distanced itself from the comedian, while Puerto Rican celebrities like Aubrey Plaza, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Nicky Jam criticized his performance. Jam, who had previously endorsed Trump, revoked his support following the incident, and Lopez called out the president for allowing such remarks to be made.

Despite the backlash, Hinchcliffe stood by his set and refrained from issuing an apology. However, he later acknowledged that the venue and timing may not have been appropriate for the controversial material.

With his new deal with Netflix, Hinchcliffe is poised to reach a wider audience and showcase his comedic talents on a global scale. Fans can look forward to his upcoming specials and stand-up show, set to debut in the coming months.
