Chris Brown Remanded in Custody After Alleged Nightclub Assault
Renowned R&B artist Chris Brown has found himself in legal trouble once again, this time in the UK. The 36-year-old singer was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Salford after being charged with an alleged bottle attack at Tape nightclub in Mayfair in 2023.
The victim of the assault is reported to be music producer Abe Diaw, who suffered grievous bodily harm at the hands of Brown. The incident has led to Brown being remanded in custody following his appearance in Manchester Magistrates’ Court.
While preparing for his upcoming UK tour, which includes performances in Manchester and Cardiff, Brown was taken into custody in Manchester. He appeared in court wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a plain t-shirt, confirming his full name and date of birth when asked.
The case has now been transferred to Southwark Crown Court in London for further proceedings, with the next hearing scheduled for 13 June. District Judge Joanne Hirst deemed the charge of grievous bodily harm too serious for a magistrates’ court to handle.
Despite his legal troubles, Brown had been gearing up for his tour, with performances planned in Amsterdam, Germany, and the UK. Fans of the artist gathered outside the court in Manchester to show their support, with one fan named Candy expressing her unwavering loyalty to Brown.
“I’ve followed him since I was 14,” she said. “When I heard about his arrest, I couldn’t sleep. I’m just here to support him. I love his music, his voice. Even my children are fans now.”
