China Reaffirms Commitment to Economic Globalisation Amid Trade Tensions
China will continue to “adhere to the correct direction of economic globalisation” despite the challenges of fragmentation, as stated by the country’s second-ranking official at a recent Beijing business executives’ meeting.
The China Development Forum convened amidst escalating trade conflicts with Washington, triggered by the return of Donald Trump to the White House, posing a threat to China’s growing exports.
Following the end of the pandemic, Beijing has been focused on stabilising the economy, with a particular emphasis on boosting consumption.
“China will firmly stand on the right side of history, advocating for fairness and justice, and will navigate through these turbulent times with integrity,” Premier Li Qiang asserted to a gathering of Chinese authorities and international business leaders.

The nation is committed to “adhering to the correct direction of economic globalisation, promoting authentic multilateralism, and striving to be a pillar of stability and certainty,” he affirmed.
“Global economic fragmentation is escalating at present,” highlighted the Chinese premier, noting that “instability and uncertainty are on the rise.”
This year’s China Development Forum, attended by prominent figures like Apple CEO Tim Cook and other business leaders, showcased Li’s statements.
