Kaizer Chiefs have been drawn to play against Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, with the match set to take place away from home. This draw was conducted in Randburg on Monday, setting the stage for an exciting clash between the two teams.
Chiefs have already shown their dominance over Stellenbosch FC this season, having secured victories in their previous encounters in the Betway Premiership. The Amakhosi claimed a 2-1 win at FNB Stadium followed by a 1-0 victory at Athlone Stadium under the guidance of Nasreddine Nabi.
In their previous meeting in the Nedbank Cup, Chiefs emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Stellenbosch FC in the last 16 stage back in 2018. Goals from Erick Mathoho and Leonardo Castro sealed the win for Chiefs, with Alan Robertson scoring a consolation goal for Stellenbosch FC.
On the other hand, Nedbank Cup holders Orlando Pirates will face SuperSport United in their quarterfinal match, with Pirates aiming to continue their winning streak against Gavin Hunt’s side. The Buccaneers have already defeated SuperSport twice this season, showcasing their strength in previous encounters.
Notably, SuperSport United will be looking to replicate their success against Orlando Pirates in the 2017 Nedbank Cup final, where they secured a memorable 4-1 victory over the Buccaneers at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
In the remaining quarterfinal fixtures, Durban City will take on Marumo Gallants, while Mamelodi Sundowns await the winners of the postponed fixture between Sekhukhune United and the victor of Milford FC or Royal AM.
The quarterfinal matches are scheduled to be played on March 8 and 9, promising an intense battle between the top teams in the competition. Football fans can look forward to thrilling encounters as the teams compete for a spot in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup.
