Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi expressed his disappointment after his team suffered a 4-1 defeat against SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership clash at FNB Stadium. Nabi attributed the loss to fatigue, stating that his team had only two days to recover compared to SuperSport United who had a week to prepare.
The match saw Samir Nurkovic score an early goal for SuperSport United, with Christian Saile, Gamphani Lungu, and Siphesihle Ndlovu adding to the scoreline. Despite briefly equalizing, Chiefs struggled to match their opponent’s energy levels throughout the game.
Nabi admitted that Chiefs’ performance was below par and acknowledged the mental lapse that led to the defeat. The team’s inconsistent form in the Premiership, with seven losses and wins each, has been a cause for concern.
Following the defeat, Chiefs will have a much-needed break as their upcoming match against Royal AM has been postponed. This break will allow the players to rest and recover before their next game against Mamelodi Sundowns on March 1.
On the other hand, SuperSport United’s head coach Gavin Hunt praised his team’s performance, highlighting their consistency throughout the season. The win over Chiefs marked their first victory with more than one goal scored in a league match this season.
Looking ahead, SuperSport United will aim to continue their winning streak when they face Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The team’s focus on maintaining their form and securing positive results in upcoming matches will be crucial for their season goals.
