In 2025, Hollywood suffered the loss of several prominent stars, from filmmakers to artists. The devastating news began on January 4 when it was reported that Aubrey Plaza’s husband, Jeff Baena, had passed away at the age of 47. According to medical examiner records seen by Us Weekly, Baena’s death was ruled as suicide.

Plaza’s representative issued a statement on January 6 expressing the profound grief felt by the actress and her family. The statement also requested privacy during this difficult time. The sudden loss of Baena left many in shock, as he was a beloved figure in the industry.

Shortly after Baena’s death, the entertainment world mourned the loss of James Lee Williams, known as The Vivienne from RuPaul’s Drag Race. The 32-year-old star was described as a warm-hearted and talented individual by their publicist in an Instagram post. The family of Williams requested privacy as they processed their grief and celebrated the achievements of their loved one.

Authorities later confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding The Vivienne’s passing, bringing some closure to fans and loved ones. The loss of these two stars left a void in the entertainment community, as they had made significant contributions to their respective fields.

As we reflect on the stars we lost in 2025, it serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the impact that these individuals had on those around them. Their legacy will continue to live on through their work and the memories they created. May they rest in peace.
