Cassava Technologies, a prominent global technology leader with African roots, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zindi, the largest professional network for data scientists in Africa. This collaboration aims to deliver cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) across the African continent.

The partnership between Cassava Technologies and Zindi marks a crucial milestone in accelerating digital transformation in Africa. Together, the two organizations will work on various initiatives, including leveraging Cassava’s GPUaaS capabilities for AI solution development on Zindi’s platform. Additionally, they will explore opportunities to utilize each other’s platforms and ecosystems for mutual benefit.

Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, emphasized the importance of providing platforms and resources for Africa’s developers and start-ups to foster the growth of the continent’s AI ecosystem. By combining advanced GPU capabilities from Cassava’s data centers with Zindi’s innovative data science platform, the partnership sets a solid foundation for digital advancement in Africa.

Zindi, known as Africa’s leading AI challenge platform, collaborates with various entities to create data-driven challenges that spur innovation. This partnership underscores the shared commitment of Cassava Technologies and Zindi to nurturing AI talent and driving innovation across the continent.

Celina Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of Zindi, expressed excitement about partnering with Cassava Technologies to enhance African datasets, address local challenges with homegrown solutions, and empower more African AI practitioners. The collaboration will include launching a challenge aimed at nurturing Africa’s AI talent, fostering skills development, and creating employment opportunities.

With the MOU now in place, Cassava Technologies and Zindi are poised to make significant strides in Africa’s AI landscape. The partnership aligns with Cassava’s commitment to delivering top-tier digital solutions and promoting responsible AI adoption, innovation, and growth in Africa. This collaboration follows Cassava’s recent announcement of its plans to establish Africa’s first AI factory and launch its AI business in 2024.
