Three African Cities Shine in Time Out’s 2025 Best Cities List

Time Out’s 2025 rankings of the world’s best cities have put three African cities in the global spotlight. Cape Town, Marrakech, and Lagos have earned their places on the prestigious list based on evaluations from over 18,500 city-dwellers. Factors such as food quality, cultural vibrancy, affordability, and livability were considered in determining the rankings.

Cape Town secured the top spot on the list, celebrated for its stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant food scene. The city offers residents and tourists unforgettable natural experiences, making it a must-visit destination for many. Marrakech, ranked 32nd, impresses with its unique blend of historical charm and modern vibrancy. The Moroccan city is also known for its booming art and festival scene, with events like the Marrakech Film Festival attracting visitors from around the world.

Meanwhile, Lagos, ranked 41st, is recognized for its creative energy and innovative dining and entertainment options. The city has reinvented itself in recent years, becoming a hub for cultural experiences and attracting global attention for its dynamic atmosphere.

These three cities showcase the thriving urban centers in Africa and highlight the continent’s diverse offerings. From breathtaking landscapes to rich cultural experiences, African cities continue to captivate and impress visitors from all corners of the globe.
