The Canon Selphy QX20 is a versatile portable printer that offers the unique feature of printing in two different formats: credit card-sized prints and square-format prints. This flexibility allows users to choose the size that best suits their needs. However, there are some drawbacks to consider, such as its weight and battery life compared to competitors.

Design & Build
The Canon Selphy QX20 has a sleek rectangular design and comes in three color options. It is slightly heavier than other portable printers on the market, weighing 455g without the cartridge and paper. While it may not be as portable as some rivals, it still fits easily into a small bag. The printer features guard rails for changing between image formats, ensuring a smooth transition.

The front of the printer sports a discreet Canon logo and a power button, while the top houses the quick-release trigger for loading film and a USB-C port for charging. Prints are loaded at the back, with instructions on the packaging for easy loading. Ink cartridges are loaded on the side, and prints eject from the bottom. Switching between print sizes requires changing the ink cartridges, but the process is straightforward.

App & Features
The Canon Selphy QX20 can be connected to your smartphone via the Selphy app, available on iOS and Android. The app allows you to select and print images from your phone, with options for simple prints or collages. You can queue up multiple images for printing and edit them within the app. The app also offers features like border customization, date stamping, and quick reprinting of photos.

Print Quality
The Canon Selphy QX20 uses a thermal dye process to produce high-quality prints that are bright, bold, and detailed. Prints are vibrant and long-lasting, with Canon claiming they can last up to 100 years when stored properly. The printer supports both credit card-sized and square-format prints, with the larger prints offering more striking results. Prints have peelable adhesive backs, making them ideal for scrapbooking.

Battery Life & Charging
The Canon Selphy QX20 offers slightly more than 20 prints on a single charge, with a charging time of 80 minutes. The included USB-C to USB-C cable is short, which may be inconvenient for some users. The app does not provide detailed information on battery levels or remaining prints, so users may need to keep track of usage manually.

Price & Availability
The Canon Selphy QX20 is priced at £124.99/$149.99 and is available from various retailers. While it is more expensive than some competitors, it offers the unique feature of dual print sizes. Additional costs for film and ink cartridges should also be considered when purchasing the printer.

Should you buy the Canon Selphy QX20?
Overall, the Canon Selphy QX20 is a reliable option for those looking for high-quality prints in two different formats. While it may be bulkier and pricier than some competitors, its versatility and ease of use make it a worthwhile investment for users who value print quality and flexibility.
