Bridgewater and Global Citizen Call on the Next Generation with Global Prediction Challenge to Evaluate Impacts of Economic Transformations

Bridgewater Associates, in collaboration with Global Citizen, has unveiled an exciting new global economics challenge entitled “Forecasting the Future: A Modern Economics Challenge.” This innovative challenge aims to harness the collective intelligence of individuals worldwide to address one of the most significant economic transformations of our time.

As the world undergoes a shift away from the era of globalization towards a new paradigm known as Modern Mercantilism, characterized by increased protectionism and evolving trade dynamics, Bridgewater is seeking insights on how these changes will impact global trade, geopolitics, and technologies. Participants are tasked with forecasting which countries, sectors, or populations will be most affected by this transition and identifying the risks and implications that policymakers need to consider in this rapidly changing landscape.

Submissions for the challenge will be evaluated based on the quality of the forecast, with the top five submissions each receiving a $25,000 prize. Additionally, winners will have the opportunity to secure employment or an internship at Bridgewater, pending successful completion of the interview process.

Nir Bar Dea, CEO of Bridgewater Associates, emphasized the importance of understanding the implications of this paradigm shift on markets and economies, highlighting the value of diverse perspectives in shaping future outcomes. Hugh Evans, Co-Founder & CEO of Global Citizen, echoed this sentiment by underscoring the need for bold, data-driven ideas to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the changing global landscape.

The partnership between Bridgewater and Global Citizen extends beyond this challenge, building on their previous collaboration to support the World Bank’s IDA21 replenishment. Through initiatives like the “Forecasting the Future: A Modern Economics Challenge,” the two organizations are committed to tackling pressing global issues and driving positive change through a deep understanding of the forces shaping our future.
