BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing Secures Multi-Fight Broadcasting Deal with Telemundo
BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Telemundo to broadcast live Spanish-language coverage on the network’s new sports channel, Telemundo Deportes Ahora.
The collaboration kicked off with BKB 44 Denver Brawl V, where fans witnessed Mexico’s Paty Juarez successfully defend her lightweight championship against Khortni Kamyron.
Expanding Reach and Audience Engagement
CEO David Tetreault leads the Miami-based combat sports company, which now joins NBCUniversal’s roster of sports programming. The move reflects a growing interest in bare knuckle boxing among Hispanic viewers, particularly the male 18-54 demographic.
BKB Chairman Mike Vazquez highlighted the brand’s existing Spanish-speaking fan base and the appointment of Claudia Trejos and Benny Ricardo as the broadcast team, a move that has generated a wealth of content for the Telemundo platform.
Strategic Partnerships and Global Expansion
In addition to the Telemundo deal, BKB has recently secured a UK and Ireland partnership with News UK’s talkSPORT and expanded its reach in the US and Canada through VICE. These collaborations position BKB as a key player in combat sports, offering a more action-packed alternative to traditional boxing.
Joaquín Duro, Telemundo’s Executive Vice President of Sports, emphasized the cultural significance of the partnership, noting that bare knuckle boxing aligns perfectly with the network’s commitment to delivering dynamic sports content for today’s Hispanic audiences.
Embracing Change and Modern Viewership Preferences
Recognizing a shift in viewer preferences, Tetreault highlighted BKB’s format as a response to audience fatigue with lengthy boxing matches and ground-focused MMA fights. The fast-paced nature of bare knuckle boxing offers immediate entertainment for fans seeking action-packed bouts.
Telemundo’s investment in live sports programming underscores the enduring appeal of sports content in an era of digital streaming. The partnership between BKB and Telemundo positions both entities for growth and success in the competitive sports media landscape.
