The Family of Guo Jiaxuan Seeks Answers from Beijing FA
The family of Guo Jiaxuan, an 18-year-old Chinese youth footballer declared brain dead following an injury during a match in Spain, has accused the Beijing Football Association (FA) of withholding crucial information about the incident.
Guo, a talented defender for Beijing Guoan’s U-19 team, tragically fell into a coma on February 6 after a training match between Beijing’s U-20 team and a Spanish side from a Madrid suburb. Despite immediate medical attention from both teams, Guo was airlifted to a local hospital where he was later pronounced brain dead.
The Beijing FA’s lack of transparency regarding the incident has left Guo’s family deeply frustrated. His brother took to social media to express concerns over the delays in receiving vital information.
The family is demanding access to video footage of the match, details on the medical treatment Guo received before arriving at the hospital, and information regarding his insurance coverage.
Expressing his frustration, Guo’s brother shared screenshots of ignored text messages exchanged with the Beijing FA. “We just want to know the truth, why is it so hard?” he questioned.
Despite being transferred back to China for further care, Guo’s condition remains unchanged. “We are slowly coming to terms with reality,” his brother stated.
Guo had a promising career ahead of him, having been a part of China’s U-17 team in 2023 and selected for the FC Bayern World Squad, a talent scouting initiative by Germany’s renowned football club.
