Davide Ancelotti Appointed as New Manager of Botafogo
In a surprising move, Davide Ancelotti, the son of renowned Brazil’s national team coach Carlo Ancelotti, has been named as the new manager of Botafogo, the Rio de Janeiro-based club announced on Tuesday.
At just 35 years old, Ancelotti is stepping into his first role as a head coach after gaining experience as an assistant to his father at top clubs such as Real Madrid, Everton, Napoli, and Bayern Munich.
His appointment comes after Botafogo parted ways with Renato Paiva following the team’s exit in the Round of 16 at the prestigious Club World Cup.
Ancelotti has signed a contract that will see him lead the team until the end of 2026, indicating a long-term commitment to the club.
Having previously worked alongside his father in the national team coaching staff, Ancelotti made the move to Brazil before taking up the managerial position at Botafogo.
Carlo Ancelotti, who recently concluded his tenure at Real Madrid, was appointed as Brazil’s head coach in May, becoming the first non-Brazilian to lead the five-time World Cup champions since 1965.
