The Women in Sustainability Africa Summit (WiSA) and Launch is set to bring together stakeholders on Thursday, 1st May 2025 at Wesley Towers, Ridge, Accra – Ghana, starting at 8:30 a.m. The theme for this inaugural event is “The Role of Women as a Source of Labour and Agents of Sustainability.”
Organized by Women in Sustainability Africa (WiSA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment, the Ministry of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, the League of Extraordinary Women Network, and EIB Network, the summit will feature distinguished speakers including H.E. Jewel Taylor, former Vice President of Liberia; Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ghana; Rashid Pelpuo, Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment, Ghana; Issifu Seidu, Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Ghana; and Nana Yaa Sarpong, Women and Sustainability Advocate.
Additional speakers include Hon. George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, Ghana; Hon. Abigail Elorm Yaa Mensah, MASLOC boss; H.E. Edmond Moukala, UNESCO Representative to Ghana; Ama Pratt, Press Secretary and Spokesperson to the Vice President of Ghana; Dr. KY Dele, Community Impact Strategist, Global Partnerships Advisor, and Leadership Development Consultant; and Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, Chief Executive Officer of Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB).
Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong, the Convenor of WiSA, emphasized the importance of collaboration with men, HeForShe champions, CSOs, corporate institutions, and local and international development organizations to empower women, especially those at the grassroots level, in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa. She believes that women are key to ethical leadership and driving SDG achievement, advocating for inclusive efforts involving both men and women.
As a media practitioner with 26 years of experience, Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong is the General Manager of EIB Network, an entrepreneur, international trade and business consultant, and an ordained pastor of Eternal Life Church Global.
