President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo recently hosted the prestigious 2024 Ghana National Honours and Awards ceremony, where he recognized and rewarded individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Ghana. Among the distinguished personalities honored were Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Mavis Hawa Kommson, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and many others.
Dr. Bawumia received the esteemed “Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Award” for his exceptional service and dedication to national development. This award is the highest national honor, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to both the public and private sectors. Dr. Prempeh, who is running for the 2024 general elections, was awarded the “Order of the Volta, Officer Award” for his outstanding work in public service. Mavis Hawa Koomson and Ursula Owusu-Ekuful were also honored in this category.
The creative arts sector was well-represented at the ceremony, with accolades for notable individuals such as Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante for their remarkable contributions to music and the arts.
The event, held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Monday, December 30, 2024, celebrated Ghanaians who have excelled in their respective industries over the years.
