Kwame A Plus Criticizes President Akufo-Addo and NPP, Celebrates Election Defeat
Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus, has sparked controversy with his sharp criticism of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). In a recent interview on GHOne TV, the independent MP-elect for Gomoa Central expressed satisfaction with the NPP’s loss in the 2024 general elections, attributing it to Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
A Plus criticized the president’s actions, claiming they have tarnished the party’s image. “Akufo-Addo has ruined the NPP. The election outcome is fantastic. Akufo-Addo has been embarrassed, and I am thrilled about it,” he stated.
The musician-turned-politician lambasted the president’s policies, pointing out the government’s failure to meet the needs of Ghanaians. He mentioned issues such as corruption and the mishandling of education, specifically the Free Senior High School (SHS) program. “All they have is Free SHS, but what else? His government stole everything from us and ignored the people,” he argued.
A Plus also celebrated his personal victory in defeating the incumbent NPP MP, Nana Eyiah Quansah, in Gomoa Central. He secured 14,277 votes compared to Quansah’s 11,637.
Regarding his future political alignment, A Plus mentioned that he is contemplating his options and is in discussions with both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC). However, he stressed that his primary focus is on the development of Gomoa Central. “I will make a decision based on which party can best serve the interests of my constituents,” he affirmed.
