Former Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts and ex-MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has called on the government to provide clarity on the controversial Airmed flight that has recently been linked to suspicious activities.
During an appearance on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, 12 April, Mr. Mercer emphasized that the flight did not carry any patients, leading to concerns about the true purpose of the aircraft. This statement comes in the midst of growing public interest in the so-called ‘suspicious flights saga’ and the attempted arrest of Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who initially raised red flags about the flight.
Mr. Mercer stood in defense of Fordjour and criticized the government for its silence on the matter. He demanded transparency and accountability from state authorities, questioning why critical questions posed by concerned stakeholders, including Members of Parliament, have not been addressed.
“We know for a fact that the Airmed flight didn’t carry any patient. So what did it carry? The government should tell Ghanaians,” Mr. Mercer asserted. He expressed frustration over what he perceived as a deliberate lack of transparency and accountability on the part of the government.
Mr. Mercer stressed the importance of transparency in maintaining public trust and national security. He called on relevant agencies to disclose the contents and purpose of the flight to the public.
In conclusion, it is crucial for the government to address the concerns raised by Mr. Mercer and other stakeholders regarding the Airmed flight. Transparency and accountability are essential in ensuring public trust and safeguarding national security.
