Rulani Mokwena’s agent, Steve Kapeluschnik, has confirmed that the coach has been paid all his salary up until February and will be leaving Wydad Casablanca at the end of the season. This confirmation comes after reports had surfaced suggesting that Mokwena had not been paid by Wydad for eight months.
In a meeting with Wydad president Hicham Ait Mena, Kapeluschnik, Mokwena, and the rest of the technical staff expressed mutual support between the two parties. Kapeluschnik made it clear to the president that if they did not want Mokwena to stay, they would leave. However, an agreement was reached for Mokwena to stay until the end of the season, after which he will depart in a professional and respectful manner.
“The future is clear now. There are five matches left, and Rulani will stay until the end,” Kapeluschnik stated.
Regarding Mokwena’s payment, Kapeluschnik informed Radio Mars that the coach had been paid until February, with some arrears.
Mokwena had left Sundowns to join Wydad in July last year. With five games remaining in the season, Wydad finds themselves in third place in the Moroccan Botola Pro League, just two points behind second-placed AS Far, but trailing leaders RS Berkane by 17 points.
Overall, the situation seems to have been resolved amicably, with Mokwena set to see out the remainder of the season with Wydad before parting ways with the club.
