File photo of a worried woman

Dear GhanaWeb,

I’ve been married for four years now. My husband is a business man and he travels a lot. We have a two-year-old son but he is barely around.

He mostly spends more than a month when he travels but I never suspected he could be cheating me.

I thought we had a perfect marriage, he took good care of our son and I.

He never smoked nor drank and though he was not mostly with us, I was happy regardless.

He made me cut ties with all my single friends and stayed home as a housewife.

He said there’s no need for me working because he is capable of taking care of us. I had no friends and I’m always at home with our maid.

Last week, a woman came looking for him but he traveled so I told her my husband wasn’t home.

The woman said she is our neighbor so when my husband returns, she would want to see him.

My husband returned four days ago and I informed him that someone came looking for him. The next morning, the woman returned.

My husband asked her if they knew each other but she said no.

The woman asked him if he knew her daughter, she mentioned her name and my husband nodded but looked surprised.

The woman laughed and said she was at the right place after all. She asked my husband if he was aware that her daughter was pregnant, he said yes.

The woman narrated everything my husband did to her daughter. He made the girl commit an abortion and lost her womb.

As though that’s not enough, my husband infected her with HIV. According to her, her daughter was 17 years old and a virgin.

Now her daughter has lost herself. She is always smoking and drinking. Whenever my husband and the girl are together, he made her drink alcohol and smoke weed with him.

I was so shocked hearing all these and I even thought she was telling lies because my husband was speechless.

He couldn’t say a word when I asked him to explain himself. I went to the hospital yesterday to get tested and I was told I’m HIV positive.

I couldn’t hold my tears. I’m an orphan, who do I run to? My husband knelt down begging me and I told him I want a divorce. I woke up this morning, packed everything and I was planning on lodging in a hotel for now. He said he wouldn’t allow me to go and threatened to kill himself if I leave.

I’m traumatized at this point. I’ve always been a good wife to him, why would he do this to me?

I’m confused on what to do. I need help!
