Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has provided an important update on the health status of Vice-President Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who recently sought medical treatment abroad. The Vice-President was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday, 29th March 2025, after falling ill the day before and was subsequently flown abroad for further medical care.
During a working visit to Lagos, Nigeria on 6th April, Mr. Ablakwa reassured Ghanaians that the Vice-President is responding well to treatment. He expressed gratitude for the prayers and well wishes that have poured in from all over, emphasizing that they have had a positive impact on her recovery.
Addressing concerns about the Vice-President’s health, Mr. Ablakwa dismissed rumors of a deteriorating condition as “vicious and un-Ghanaian evil propaganda.” He urged the public to disregard such misinformation and reiterated that she is doing very well. He also mentioned that he had personally spoken to her, confirming her improved health status.
The Minister emphasized the importance of unity and support during this time, highlighting the need to focus on the Vice-President’s recovery and eventual return to her duties.
