Abdul Fatawu on Jamie Vardy: “It’s a Dream Come True to Play with Him”

Leicester City’s rising star, Abdul Fatawu, recently revealed that he was not familiar with the club until their historic Premier League title win in 2016. However, it was Jamie Vardy’s emergence as a football sensation that caught his attention. Now, playing alongside Vardy at Leicester, Fatawu describes the experience as a dream come true.

In a recent interview, Fatawu shared, “I used to support different teams and would switch allegiances if one lost. I didn’t know much about Leicester City until they won the title. Jamie Vardy’s name started to pop up everywhere because he was the key player.”

Today, Fatawu finds himself sharing the pitch with Vardy, a player he once only knew from headlines. The 20-year-old even joked about their paths crossing at Leicester, saying, “I’ve told him I’m lucky he didn’t retire and waited for me to come over and play with him!”

Beyond the admiration for Vardy, Fatawu acknowledges the impact the veteran striker has had on his game. He credits Vardy for providing him with more freedom and confidence on the field. Fatawu stated, “On the pitch, he gives you the confidence to express yourself. He brings so much energy to the game. When we play together, I feel like I can contribute to his goal-scoring efforts.”

With Vardy leading the line and Fatawu eager to make his mark, Leicester fans have every reason to be excited about the partnership forming between the two players.
