The head coach of Kano Pillars, Usman Abdallah, has expressed his frustration with the club’s management over his suspension. The former Enyimba International coach has been on the sidelines for weeks following accusations of mistreating the team’s fans.
In an interview with Punch, Abdallah addressed the situation by questioning the reasons behind his suspension. He stated, “What is being investigated? The management seems to be avoiding the issue and just asking for things to calm down. I don’t even know why I was suspended in the first place. There are ongoing conflicts between the supporters and officials, and my suspension has been extended until after our match against Kwara United.”
Abdallah explained that the incident that led to his suspension was a misunderstanding. He clarified that a minor altercation with a small group was misconstrued as a fight with the fans. He said, “I had a disagreement with a few individuals who were demanding money from me every month. They reported me to the chairman, but after explaining the situation, the fans understood.”
Despite the ongoing dispute, Abdallah remains patient due to his contractual obligations with the club. He emphasized the importance of respecting the terms of his two-year contract with Kano Pillars. He stated, “I am simply observing the situation because I have a commitment to fulfill with the club. Regardless of the circumstances, we must honor the terms of the contract.”
Abdallah’s account sheds light on the complexities within the club and the challenges faced by coaches in managing relationships with fans and officials. As the saga continues, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold and if Abdallah will be reinstated as the head coach of Kano Pillars.
