The upcoming Metro FM Music Awards (MMAs) will showcase a unique fusion of fashion and music, as Africa Fashion International (AFI) partners with the event to host a fashion show on the MMAs stage. Show producer Thabang Mapokgole expressed excitement about this collaboration, stating that they are creating a new template for how fashion and music can elevate each other in real time.

The AFI Fashion Experience will transform the MMAs stage into a runway, bringing a touch of glamour and style to the event. AFI, established by Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe in 2007, is known for hosting exclusive fashion experiences in various locations, including Joburg Fashion Week and Cape Town Fashion Week. This collaboration with the MMAs marks a significant moment in the evolution of award shows, as fashion takes center stage alongside music.

As the official fashion partner of the MMAs, AFI will sponsor the Best Styled Artist award and the AFI MMA Black Carpet Experience, setting the tone for the ceremony. The fashion show will feature the latest NALA | Privé collection, showcasing contemporary African aesthetics while honoring sartorial heritage. Designed by the AFI’s in-house atelier led by Loice Dube, the collection pays homage to Black Dandyism through avant-garde designs that blend tradition with modernity.

The hosts for the evening will be broadcasters Luthando ‘LootLov’ Shosha and Siyabonga ‘Scoop’ Ngwekazi, who are set to bring their unique charm and energy to the stage. Dineo Ranaka and Hip-Hop artist L-Tido will host in the Green Room, while Anele Zondo and Mpumi Mlambo will host the Black Carpet, interviewing winners as they step off-stage.

Overall, the AFI Fashion Experience at the MMAs promises to be a one-of-a-kind showcase of fashion and music, redefining the traditional award show format and setting a new standard for future collaborations between the two industries. Stay tuned for a night of style, talent, and creativity at the Metro FM Music Awards.
