Tragedy in Navrongo: Six-month-old baby dies in devastating Nogsenia fire
SHARE

A tragic incident occurred in Nogsenia, a suburb of Navrongo in Ghana’s Upper East Region, where a six-month-old baby lost their life in a devastating fire that engulfed a family home. The heartbreaking event took place in the early hours of Sunday, January 12, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the couple’s room before neighbors could intervene. Despite their best efforts, the intensity of the flames made it impossible to save the infant. The baby’s mother, who was inside the house at the time, collapsed from shock and smoke inhalation. She was immediately rushed to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo for treatment.

Aside from the tragic loss of life, the fire also destroyed all of the family’s belongings, including household items, clothing, and essential documents. The house was reduced to ashes, leaving the family homeless and in dire need of assistance.

This heartbreaking incident comes just a week after a devastating fire ravaged Kantamanto Market in Accra. Over 100 shops were reduced to ashes, and traders suffered immense losses. Goods worth millions of cedis were destroyed, leaving the traders in despair and calling for government support.

The frequency of these fire outbreaks across the country is alarming, and it is imperative that a thorough investigation be carried out to uncover the root causes of these disasters. The government should establish a committee to investigate these incidents and implement measures to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring.

It is essential to prioritize fire safety measures and raise awareness about the importance of fire prevention in communities to avoid further loss of lives and properties. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by these tragic events, and we hope that swift action will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
