A popular cold and flu medicine from Costco, the Kirkland Signature Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion, has been recalled due to potential foreign material contamination. The specific lot code affected is P140082, and it was sold at select locations in the Midwest and southeast. Customers who purchased this product between Oct. 30 and Nov. 30, 2024, are advised not to use it and to return it to Costco for a full refund.

The manufacturer, LNK International Inc., initiated the recall out of caution after discovering the potential contamination. Consumers with any concerns or issues can contact LNK International Inc. at 1-800-426-9391 or email complaints-inquiries@lnkintl.com. Costco has not provided further information regarding the recall at this time.

It is important to note that last month, the FDA recalled 8,640 boxes of Kirkland Severe Cold & Flu Plus Congestion Day and Night packs due to the ingredient oral phenylephrine being deemed ineffective as a nasal decongestant after an extensive review. Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News senior medical analyst, highlighted the potential risks associated with this chemical when used in oral form.

The recalled boxes of the Kirkland Cold & Flu product had lot numbers P139953 or P139815 with an expiration date of August 2026. Customers are urged to check their medicine cabinets for these specific lot codes and return the product for a refund. It is essential to prioritize consumer safety and ensure that all products meet quality standards.

For more information or assistance regarding the recall, consumers can reach out to LNK International Inc. or visit the Costco website for updates. Stay informed and prioritize your health when using over-the-counter medications. Fox News’ Angelica Stabile contributed to this report.
