Gardners Candies Issues Recall for Cappuccino Meltaway Bars Due to Undeclared Tree Nuts

Gardners Candies has announced a voluntary recall of certain Cappuccino Meltaway Bars due to a packaging oversight that failed to disclose the presence of tree nuts. The Pennsylvania-based company issued the recall after it was discovered that the product may contain undeclared cashews, posing a potential health risk to consumers with tree nut allergies.

The affected products are 1.25-ounce packages of Cappuccino Meltaway Bars with the lot number #082725 and expiration date 08/27/25. These bars were part of Meltaway Treat Boxes that also contained other flavors with lot numbers 101625 or 112525.

Individuals who are allergic to or have a severe sensitivity to tree nuts are advised not to consume the recalled Cappuccino Meltaway Bars, as they could experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

According to the Food Allergy Research and Education organization, tree nut allergies are one of the most common food allergies in both children and adults. While no illnesses related to the recalled Gardners Candies product have been reported so far, the company is taking proactive measures to ensure consumer safety.

Consumers who have purchased the affected Cappuccino Meltaway Bars or Meltaway Treat Boxes are urged to contact Gardners Candies for a replacement. The products were distributed nationwide through stores and mail orders starting in September.

Gardners Candies has temporarily halted production of the Cappuccino Meltaway Bars to address the packaging issue and prevent future occurrences. The company has a long history dating back to the late 1800s, with multiple stores in Pennsylvania and distribution to over 100 retailers across three states.
