Everton Football Club has officially been taken over by The Friedkin Group, marking a significant moment in the history of one of England’s most esteemed football institutions. The acquisition, which involved purchasing Farhad Moshiri’s 94% stake in the club, was recently finalized after receiving approval from the Premier League board.

The Premier League has confirmed that The Friedkin Group’s acquisition of 98.8% ownership has successfully passed the league’s rigorous owners’ and directors’ test, ensuring the club is in capable hands moving forward.

In an effort to connect with Everton supporters, Dan Friedkin, the American businessman and film producer leading The Friedkin Group, has penned a heartfelt message to fans through the club’s official website. Friedkin expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Evertonians and introduced Marc Watts as the incoming executive chairman of the club.

“Following the completion of the takeover of Everton Football Club, I want to express my gratitude for your continued support and introduce the incoming executive chairman of Everton, Marc Watts,” Friedkin shared. “I take immense pride in welcoming one of England’s most historic football clubs to our global family, the Friedkin Group. Everton represents a proud legacy, and we are honored to become custodians of this great institution.”

Friedkin also provided insight into The Friedkin Group’s diverse portfolio, which includes ventures in sports, automotive, entertainment, hospitality, and adventure. “Across all our endeavors, we strive to deliver extraordinary experiences that ignite people’s passions. We are thrilled to bring this ethos to Everton and the Liverpool city region,” he added.

Recognizing the deep cultural and historical significance of Everton Football Club, Friedkin emphasized the group’s commitment to preserving the club’s heritage while making positive contributions to the local community. “Whilst we are new to the club, we fully understand the vital role Everton plays in local culture, history, and the lives of Evertonians here and around the world. We are deeply committed to honoring this legacy while contributing positively to the community, economy, and people of this remarkable city,” he stated.
