A recent Republican oversight report has raised serious allegations against former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, accusing her of colluding with witnesses in the Jan. 6 Select Committee investigation that she led.

The report, released by the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk, suggests that Cheney may have engaged in criminal activity during her tenure on the committee.

The report specifically points to evidence that Cheney tampered with witness Cassidy Hutchinson by secretly communicating with her without the knowledge of Hutchinson’s attorney. Such actions, according to the report, may violate federal laws and warrant an investigation by the FBI.

According to the report, Cheney could potentially face charges under 18 U.S.C. 1512 for tampering with a witness and 18 U.S.C. 1622 for procuring another person to commit perjury.

Cheney has yet to publicly respond to the allegations outlined in the report.

Calls for Preemptive Pardons

In response to threats of jail time from former President Donald Trump for committee members, Senator Bernie Sanders has suggested that President Joe Biden should consider issuing preemptive pardons for those individuals.

Sanders’ recommendation comes amid growing tensions surrounding the Jan. 6 investigation and the potential legal implications for those involved.

Concerns Raised About Jan. 6 Investigation

The report also raises concerns about the handling of the Jan. 6 investigation, including issues related to witness pressure, evidence handling, and overall transparency.

Chairman Loudermilk’s previous report focused on security lapses at the Capitol during the events of Jan. 6, highlighting failures in intelligence, security, and leadership that contributed to the chaos that unfolded that day.

Despite facing obstacles in obtaining critical information and cooperation from various sources, Loudermilk’s team has continued to uncover key details about the events leading up to and following the Capitol breach.

This latest report underscores the need for a thorough investigation into the actions of all individuals involved in the Jan. 6 committee, including Cheney and other committee members.
