The leadership of the ANC Youth League is facing internal turmoil, with serious divisions emerging within the elected slate. President Collen Malatji, however, has vehemently denied allegations of a split within the organization, insisting that the leadership is united.

Reports suggest that Malatji, along with his deputy Phumzile Mgcina and treasurer Zwelo Masilela, have formed a pact to undermine the league’s secretary general, Mntuwoxolo Ngudle, and his deputies. Despite these claims, Malatji maintains that there is no conflict within the leadership and that they are working together harmoniously.

Malatji dismissed the rumors as attempts by external forces to sow discord within the youth league. He emphasized that the leadership is functioning effectively and that relations between himself and Ngudle are cordial. Each official has been assigned specific roles, with Ngudle responsible for organizational management, Malatji providing political direction, and Masilela handling financial matters.

The youth league’s leadership is seen as a threat by some, due to its perceived power and progress towards achieving its objectives. Malatji has warned of possible expulsions for members causing disruptions at branch meetings in Gauteng, as the province prepares for its first conference since 2014. Reports of violence and manipulation in the run-up to the conference have raised concerns about the integrity of the process.

Despite these challenges, Malatji remains confident in the leadership’s ability to overcome obstacles and lead the youth league towards its goals. He has pledged to ensure that the provincial conference in Gauteng proceeds smoothly, even if it means postponing it to address any readiness issues.

In conclusion, the ANC Youth League is navigating a period of internal strife and external pressures, but the leadership is determined to maintain unity and focus on advancing the organization’s agenda. The upcoming provincial conference will be a critical test of the leadership’s ability to manage challenges and uphold democratic processes within the youth league.
