Maputo, Mozambique has been engulfed in a day of unrest following the tragic killing of two members of the political opposition on Saturday. Protesters took to the streets on Monday to demonstrate against the killings and what they believe is electoral fraud. In response, police fired tear gas at the demonstrators, escalating tensions in the city.

Male Violence Against Female Athletes

Six weeks have passed since the tragic death of Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei, who was killed by her former boyfriend in Kenya. This heartbreaking incident sheds light on a disturbing trend of male violence against female athletes. It serves as a reminder of the dangers that women in sports can face both on and off the field.

Tentative Optimism in Rwanda

This encouraging development signals a glimmer of hope in the fight against the virus and provides some relief to the population. Authorities are cautiously optimistic about the progress being made in containing the outbreak.
