Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite a disappointing draw in their last qualifier against Chad. The team currently sits at the top of Group I with 16 points, ahead of Comoros, Madagascar, Mali, Central African Republic, and Chad.

In a press conference ahead of Ghana’s upcoming match against Mali, Addo acknowledged the team’s frustration with the result against Chad but emphasized that lessons have been learned. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back and secure a victory.

“The entire team felt very disappointed after the draw against Chad because there were high expectations for us to win. We have analyzed the game thoroughly and hope to have learned from our mistakes. Playing at home with the support of our fans gives us an advantage, and I expect a different performance from the players this time,” Addo said.

Regarding concerns about his future if Ghana fails to qualify, Addo dismissed any speculation, stating, “I’m not afraid of anything, just God. I’m very sure we’ll show a different face and come out victorious.”

The Black Stars will be missing Sulemana Ibrahim and Elisha Owusu due to injury and suspension, respectively. Addo provided updates on Derrick Kohn, who is awaiting FIFA clearance, and confirmed the return of Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku, who missed the Chad match.

The match between Ghana and Mali is set to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium with a kick-off time of 19:00 GMT. Fans are eager to see if the Black Stars can secure a crucial win in their quest for World Cup qualification.
