Motswako Republic Tour: Celebrating a Unique Sound
The Motswako Republic Tour is a tribute to the distinctive sound and culture that have left an indelible mark on the South African music landscape.
Originating in the 2000s, Motswako – which means “mixture” in Setswana – is a fusion of Setswana and English that has become a powerful voice for young African expression.
Pioneers like the late HHP, Tuks, Molemi, Morafe, and Khuli Chana played a key role in popularizing the genre in Mafikeng, Botswana, and beyond.
According to Disoufeng events manager Tebogo Phiri, the timing of the show is deliberate.
“This event is a fantastic way to kick off Heritage Month and celebrate the richness of local music,” he explains.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the magic of Motswako rap and pay homage to a genre that continues to shape the South African music scene. See you there!
