The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has issued a challenge to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to stand by their statements and attach a name to their unsigned communication regarding the reduction of the Black Stars’ budget.

Adams, who has been under scrutiny for not disclosing budgets for Ghana’s international assignments despite a directive from President John Mahama, defended his actions by stating that his administration had reviewed the estimates submitted and cut down certain items, resulting in a reduced budget of $1.3m instead of the proposed $2m.

In response to the GFA’s statement acknowledging the budget cuts, Adams questioned the lack of a name attached to the communication, urging the association to be bold and transparent about their positions. He also emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in the communication process.

The Black Stars are currently preparing for their upcoming matches against Chad and Mali, with the team scheduled to train ahead of the games. The team, led by coach Otto Addo, is currently at the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers, with a crucial match against Mali on the horizon.

As the team gears up for their upcoming fixtures, the focus remains on performance and results on the field. The Minister’s challenge to the GFA underscores the importance of accountability and transparency in sports administration, as stakeholders continue to navigate the complexities of budgeting and resource allocation in the sporting arena.
