South African rapper Blxckie recently found himself at the center of controversy after comments he made about not wanting to rap over a ProKid beat were misunderstood. In a recent interview, Blxckie clarified that his remarks were misinterpreted, particularly regarding his preference for freestyling on a beat from a classic ProKid song, Uthini Ngo Pro.

The viral clip that sparked the backlash was a snippet of a longer interview where Blxckie expressed his reluctance to rap over a ProKid beat in 2025. While some fans accused him of disrespecting the late ProKid and being “Americanized,” Blxckie maintains that his comments were taken out of context.

Rapping over old school classic hip hop beats is a common practice in the hip hop industry, with artists often freestyling or performing pre-written verses over classic beats. Blxckie’s comments seemed to reflect his personal preference for more current sounds, rather than a lack of respect for ProKid or his legacy.

Producer Dome, who worked on ProKid’s song Uthini Ngo Pro, expressed understanding towards Blxckie’s perspective, viewing it as a generational difference in the evolution of hip hop. He emphasized the need for the culture to move forward and adapt to new styles and sounds.

Blxckie, known for incorporating isiZulu into his music, denied allegations of being an “American wannabe,” citing his commitment to representing his heritage through his art. He emphasized that his inspiration from American hip hop does not diminish his South African identity and cultural influence.

Overall, the controversy surrounding Blxckie’s comments highlights the ongoing debate within the hip hop community about honoring tradition while embracing innovation and evolution in the genre. As artists navigate the ever-changing landscape of hip hop, it is essential to respect the past while pushing boundaries and creating new sounds for future generations. the perspective of a freelancer who has found success in their career:

As a freelancer, I never imagined the level of success I would achieve in my career. When I first started out, I was hesitant to take the leap into freelancing full-time. I had a steady job with benefits and a stable income, but I knew that I wanted more out of my career.

I began taking on small freelance projects in my spare time, slowly building up my portfolio and reputation in my industry. As I gained more experience and confidence in my abilities, I decided to take the plunge and quit my day job to pursue freelancing full-time.

The first few months were challenging, as I navigated the ups and downs of freelancing. There were times when work was slow, and I questioned whether I had made the right decision. But I persevered, constantly seeking out new opportunities and networking with potential clients.

Eventually, my hard work paid off. I landed a few big projects that not only paid well but also allowed me to showcase my talents and build strong relationships with clients. Word of mouth spread, and soon I was receiving referrals and repeat business from satisfied clients.

Today, I am proud to say that I have found success as a freelancer. I have a steady stream of work, a diverse portfolio of projects, and a network of clients who trust me to deliver high-quality work on time. I have also been able to set my own schedule, work from anywhere in the world, and take on projects that truly excite me.

Freelancing has given me the freedom and flexibility to pursue my passions and build a career on my own terms. It hasn’t been easy, but the journey has been incredibly rewarding. If you are considering a career in freelancing, my advice would be to believe in yourself, work hard, and never give up on your dreams. Success is possible, and it’s waiting for you on the other side of fear and uncertainty.
